Touched Twice United is a Christ-centered, faith-based organization that strives to bring healing and peace to the community. We act as a catalyst,
mobilizing volunteers from local churches to host free clinics that strive to meet the medical, spiritual, and physical needs of the guests – all on
a budget of zero dollars and zero cents.
As you can imagine, it takes a lot of planning and a lot of prayer to organize a clinic event. The standard clinic is a one-day event, typically on a Saturday, and guests are served from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Volunteers are recruited from churches and the community to provide services for the guests. Services range from medical, dental, and optical care to haircuts, family portraits, and manicures.
Touched Twice United desires to see clinic ministries active in every county across our nation by 2011. The goal is to see churches adopt the clinic ministry as part of their outreach strategy. As the church ministers through TTU, we then hope to see the ministry expand organically – moving to the next neighboring church, and so on. In this way, TTU as a para-church ministry will ultimately ”put itself out of business” when the goal is reached. Every County across the Nation by 2011.
Lawrence, Massachusetts, provides an excellent example. The Lawrence Association of Churches has adopted TTU as their outreach strategy for their city. The churches take turns hosting events and support one another to provide the services needed. The Association already has monthly clinics scheduled for the next year. They are wrapping their arms around their city and touching them twice, first by meeting physical needs and second by meeting spiritual needs.
